FISHING BOAT... It's Time to Go Fishing!
The designs of fishing boat vary quite a bit, as are the places they are put to use. The ones that are suited for shallow waters of inland lakes and rivers aren't meant for deep seas and great lakes.
However, they all usually have certain things in common: stowage and holders for fishing poles, bait, tackles, and special tanks designed to keep live fish.
Another feature fishing boats seem to share is an open platform where an angler can give a fight to the fish on any side of the boat.
Because of the angler who desires the ultimate for a superior fishability, most of these vessels give up some family comfort in exchange for easy maintenance due to the mess a landed fish can easily generate.
Fishing as a sport is having an amazing growing appeal internationally.
Do you actually know that right now over 44 million people fish in the U.S. alone?
This is most fascinating as the figure surpasses that of tennis and golf combined. And now it is also on record that over 500 million people take to fishing worldwide. This is really amazing!
I am sure you would love to enjoy your time in the right fishing boat, whether it's just a few hours for fun or spending up to 10 hours a day in a tournament. Wouldn’t you?
Ready? Okay, get out there and do it.
Yes, fishing is part sport, part passion, part just plain fun.
What are you waiting for? Where is your dream fishing boat? Oh! You are still reading. Then it means you are ready to know of the secrets that I am about to reveal here. You won't be disappointed. Just read on.
Well, let me tell you one thing first. If you are like a friend of mine who is always quick to make excuse of not having gone fishing yesterday due to the rain; a change is on the way.
It is true that every angler look forward to a beautiful weather. Most cherish a nice sunny day to turn on the power of their fishing boats and get the wind whip across their faces as they escape to exotic destinations.
A short story of a friend of mine is worth recounting here. In it you will find special ideas and proven strategies that would perhaps assist you.
Believe me, you would find them valuable as an experienced angler or even as a new entrant into this world wide sport of passion and fun.
A superb angler, he was wont of escaping to exotic destinations in his dream boat. But one memorable dull Saturday afternoon was different. Not only had he chosen a nearby lake, he appeared very apprehensive as he walked into his garage and picked up his rain gear.
"Ah, fishing in the rain?" he argued with himself.
"You may not like the rain, but the fishes love it!" a gentle voice echoed within him.
He thought of canceling the trip. At this point in time, the dark grey ships in the sky were already sailing from south to east. He made a frantic effort to be logical with his stream of thoughts. Then, finally, he decided to give it a go.
He cranked up his fishing boat. As he cleared the jetties and nosed the boat eastward he felt it was going to be a rough ride.
It had already started drizzling as the duo-props quickly accelerated his Queen forward with the reassuring hum of a solid power plant. The wake was smooth and clean as he made a stable ride in the now murky water. He had so much trust in his watercraft but certainly not with his decision of fishing in the rain.
He knew there could be nothing quite as exciting as the feel of standing on the deck with a clear view of his bait. And then straining to see if the shadow under the short rigger is really the 15 pound Largemouth Bass his racing heart hoped that it was. He however sped on.
The thought whether he would make any catch under the rain gave his heart a sharp tug.
About a mile off, he idled the engine and put out his first set of lures to drag through the murky water. It was now raining in pellets.
Within a few minutes he noticed a Largemouth Bass in pursuit of his lure. It ate it. Then it started running, jumping and jumping, running and jumping some more. He brought the fish near the boat, but it was still jumping, running and ran itself to the side of the fishing boat popping. WOW! What a catch! The Largemouth weighed 12 pounds. His second catch was nothing special. It was a small Trout. He quickly released it. However, it didn't take long before he made some more fantastic catches.
As he started heading home, he knew he had found something that worked and was ready to give it some more trials. And he did make more trips on other raining days. He generally made good catches on the rainy days.
My friend was first taken aback at this realization. But then he decided to give it a logical reasoning.
First, he reasoned that whenever it rains, worms come to the surface to be carried with other bugs into the water. The fishes by instinct know this and react by feeding in frenzy whenever it rains especially if it had not rained for a while.
Another reason that came to him was that the level of oxygen in the water rises from the rain hitting the water. This increase of oxygen increases the level of fish activity. It becomes easier for them to swim faster without getting tired. So there is a greater tendency for them to see and reach for one's tasty-looking lure.
He even found a third reason why it's time to go fishing when it is raining. Normally, fish would spot you before you see them. And you know as well as i do that once they spot you, more often than not, they are gone before your next breath.
But when it rains, the ripples in the water and the dark clouds make it difficult for them to see you.
The interesting thing about this situation is that no matter the storm and ripples on top of the water, there is calm underneath the surface of the water as on a normal day. This means there is no distractions of seeing out of the water. Hence there can easily spot and go for your bait!
Whether you are a seasoned angler or just a beginner, remember, when next you decide to go fishing and the weather reports indicate there would be rain, instead of canceling your trip, just smile, grab your rain gear, and unleash the power of your fishing boat.
Remember that rain showers are fine, but never you waste a second whizzing out from the lake once you see lightning or hear thunder rolling. It is not only risky to your life but will certainly spook the fish enough that they won't be feeding anymore.
It is fun fishing in the rain though to some anglers this might not be so on their first trip. However, after you get used to it and start reeling in those fish, you'll start liking it more and more.
